The poorest and most vulnerable among our British People are facing increasingly severe distress as evidence continues to mount that, regardless of whether Conservatives or Labour (or any of the other Usual Poltical Suspects) hold Parliamentary Leadership, the UniParty will continue to fail them.
Current research reveals that 70 per cent of tenants cannot pay their rent, and are cutting back on food, heating, and essentials and borrowing more.
Tenants find it difficult to communicate with their landlords about their rent. The ones who do are more likely to be in arrears. They suffer anxiety. Stigma associated with financial problems appears to be at the heart of many tenants’ reluctance to contact their landlord when they fall into arrears.
Most (nearly six out of ten) tenants prefer to talk with their landlord over the phone, with only one in ten preferring face-to-face interaction.
