Among the many conversations I had today in Huntingdon this was one of the most unusual: a magistrate from the Great War of 1914-1918 here for the trial of six Huntingdon men who had asked to be relieved of military service for various reasons.

War always is horrific and this one was especially calamitous for so many reasons.

The Huntingdon Town Hall War memorial commemorates the 120 Huntingdon men who fell and it is understandable that others did not want to share that fate.

Well done to all involved today in bringing this dark and sorrowful story from our past to us. May we all work for peace.
